Summary:
This position will work a rotating shift schedule which includes the ability to work on weekends. The Production Maintenance Mechanic works under the supervision of Maintenance Team Leader, the leadership of the Production Maintenance Lead Person and guidance of other members of maintenance/engineering, operations and plant management. Primary responsibilities of this team member include, but are not limited to:
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that all machinery is in safe working condition. Adheres to safety policies and procedures; fosters a safe work environment; and monitors work habits of other team members.
2. Actively participate in root cause analysis processes and recommends improvements to reduce cost, production downtime and increase efficiency in area of responsibility. Implements improvements as approved.
3. Assists in the cross training of Maintenance Team and other Team Members.
4. Assists in preflight of systems to ensure efficient start-ups.
5. Completes cost-effective repairs in a timely manner.
6. Interprets and understands engineering drawings, manufacturer's instructions and plant maintenance procedures and specifications.
7. Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP?), operational policies and procedures & ensures that contractors in area follow same.
8. Completes assigned work orders on a timely basis, including scheduled, emergency and preventative maintenance work orders. Enters required data into the Nestl CMMS program completely and accurately. Recommends changes to PM program to improve productivity.
9. Assist in the organization and coordination of on-going training programs to increase departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. General knowledge and experience in power transmissions, pneumatics, electrical, hydraulics etc. as applicable in manufacturing and packaging equipment.
2. Working knowledge of common maintenance tools
3. Must have good general mechanical and troubleshooting skills, good general maintenance knowledge and familiar with manufacturing equipment and systems and operation.
4. Previous demonstration of excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills and maintenance knowledge.
5. Must have basic electrical skills to include troubleshooting of motors and electrical controls circuits on production and packaging equipment. Must be able to read electrical drawings and schematics for basic electrical circuits.
6. Previous Maintenance experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience preferred.
7. Must be able to use computer keyboard to enter various data into computer program.
8. Must have ability to operate simple machine tools.
9. Able to pass the Mechanical NOCTI test.
10. Demonstrates the ability to fabricate and weld stainless steel for use in food manufacturing.
