The Position:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve key performance metrics including improved safety, quality, product cost, and manufacturing efficiency.
QUALIFICATION Requirements:
oEducation:
A bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering with 5 - 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of experience and/or education is required for this position.
oProven leadership qualities of managing direct reports in a fast-paced operations environment.
oDemonstrated success with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cost savings initiatives.
oStrong communication and organizational skills - ability to communicate across all levels within the organization.
oSkills:
Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems oIndustrial engineering skills such as lean manufacturing processes, work measurement, labor reporting and plant layout oBuilding and maintenance contracts including liability issues oKnowledge and experience of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) oComputer skills including MS Office and AutoCAD oAnalytical analysis and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities:
Manage and develop a team to improve manufacturing process capabilities, drive down cost, and improve ease of manufacturing.
oDirectly assist all departments with improving safety, environmental, quality, productivity and delivery through capacity improvements, design improvements, etc.
oDirect annual budget preparation through the development of capital projects/expenditures.
Solicits and negotiates bids from outside contractors.
oDirects the supervision of the maintenance and manufacturing engineering functions.
oManage the qualification of new components, processes and manufacturing equipment that is incorporated into production.
oCoordinate with corporate engineering department to assure improvements are incorporated in appropriate specifications and standard procedures.
oProvide technical assistance on equipment and processes for problems related to OSHA compliance, as well as GDT rules and regulations.
Develop plans for the allocation of capital funding and execution of the plan.
