JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Technology program and fulfils Federal Register section 493.
1423 personnel requirements of a high school diploma or equivalency.
Experience Completions of clinical rotations in Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis is required.
Physical Normal hospital environment.
Close eye work.
Hearing within normal range.
Exposure to biological and mechanical hazards.
Operates various lab analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, lab refrigerators and freezers, alarm systems, incubators, rotators, water baths, safety hoods, incinerators, PC#s, computer terminals and printer, telephone.
Frequent standing and walking.
Occasional sitting and bending.
Lifting, carrying, pushing / pulling up to 20 lbs.

JOB SUMMARY Medical technologist student will perform only moderately complex testing or waived testing under the authorization of the laboratory medical director, perform testing as assigned with responsibilities for preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic phases of testing to include proper patient identification, specimen collection, handling, performance and reporting of each test method, maintenance, and troubleshooting as applicable; understanding of reagent stability and storage; awareness of factors or limitations that influence testing results; assessment and verification of validity of patient test results through the performance and evaluation of quality control sample values; and documentation of all quality control and patient testing, maintenance, and corrective action activities.
